Stock ID by Rifle Manufacturer
There were four manufacturers who produced the M14 rifle. Three commercial - Harrington and Richardson Arms( HRA), Winchester Western (WRA) and Thompson Ramo Wooldridge Inc (TRW) and the government owned Springfield Armory (SA). All of these manufacturers made rifles with wood stocks, and at least TRW and SA used various subcontractors for stock production. TRW stock production was entirely subcontracted and SA both made stocks in-house and subcontracted. HRA and WRA most likely used subcontractors, but their stocks are consistently marked so subcontractors are not individually identifiable.
